Restore and rejuvenate

Increase volume and elasticity loss for a smooth complexion.

Dermal fillers restore volume and fullness to your face, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance your facial features! Dermal fillers “fill in” areas of your face that have lost volume or elasticity due to aging, environmental factors, or genetics.

Dermal fillers: the basics

  • Dermal fillers work by restoring volume and fullness to the face, smoothing out wrinkles and enhancing facial features. They are typically made from hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, or poly-L-lactic acid.

When fillers are injected into the skin, it immediately begins to add volume to the area, smoothing out wrinkles and folds. Over time, the filler also stimulates collagen production, which helps to improve skin elasticity and firmness.

  • Hyaluronic acid fillers (which are the most common type of filler), works by attracting and retaining moisture, plumping up your skin and smoothing out wrinkles. They’re used to treat fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes/mouth/forehead, and to add volume to your cheeks and lips.

Calcium hydroxylapatite fillers work by adding volume and stimulating collagen production. These are used to treat deeper wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, in addition to adding volume to cheeks.

Poly-L-lactic acid fillers work by stimulating collagen production, improving skin texture and elasticity over time.

  • Dermal filler treatments are typically quick and easy, with minimal downtime. Results usually last 6 to 12 months, depending on the type of filler used and the individual.

  • Common side effects:

Bruising: Some people may experience bruising at the injection site. This is common with certain areas of the face (lips or under the eyes).

Itching or discomfort: You may experience some itching or discomfort at the injection site as the filler settles into place.

Lumps or bumps: In rare cases, you may develop small lumps or bumps under the skin at the injection site. These typically resolve on their own within a few days.

Follow all post-treatment instructions provided to help minimize risks of complications and to promote optimal healing. This may include avoiding certain activities, such as vigorous exercise or excessive sun exposure.

The effects of fillers can be seen immediately, but it may take several days or weeks for full results to show. The duration depends on the type of filler used, the area of the face treated, and the individual's unique skin type and needs.

  • To minimize bruising, avoid taking blood-thinning medications and supplements (such as aspirin and fish oil), for at least 7 days before treatment.

Follow aftercare instructions - After the treatment, follow the aftercare instructions given by your provider! This may include avoiding strenuous exercise, avoiding rubbing or massaging the treated area, and avoiding lying down for at least 4 hours after.

Be patient - Full effects may take up to 2 weeks to fully appear. Be patient and wait until the full results have appeared.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, (regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep), help maximize results and prevent premature aging.

Schedule regular appointments - The effects of fillers typically last around 6 to 12 months. Scheduling regular appointments helps maintain results.

  • Treatments are performed every 6 to 12 months, as the effects of the treatment gradually wear off over time.
